Mamas, what do you wear to a session?!
You booked your session and now comes the hard part. What do you wear?! Mamas, this is your time to shine! You want to feel confident and look back at these pictures thinking, “Man I look good!”. Easier said than done right?! Consider the following when choosing your outfit:
1.) Dress yourself first:
Take care of yourself before you take care of the others. When you feel confident, everyone else will too!
2.) Think about your skin tone:
Not all colors are make equal for all skin tones. If you have super pale skin, white might not be the color for you. If you have a lot of red tones in your skin (like me!) you might look like a little like a tomato. When picking colors start with two colors that you are choosing from. Hold one up to your face and then the other. Notice how your face literally changes with the different colors you wear! It’s like magic! Look to see which looks better with your skin tone!
3.) Consider renting your clothes, borrowing from a friend, or shopping your own closet:
Clothes can be expensive! Depending on what your budget looks like, it might not be feasible to get a new outfit every time you have family photos. Try to pick smartly. There are great services out there like Rent the Runway that you can rent a dress or a blouse for a few days and return. Those services aren't for you? Try asking a friend! Remember you also have great pieces in your wardrobe too. Shop your closet!
4.) Consider about your backdrop:
Where is your session? Cobblestone streets with earth colors? A park with lots of trees? You don’t want to blend into the background! Think about a color that will make you pop but also that will compliment the background.
5.) Be like Cher Horowitz and take pictures of your outfits!*
Put on some of your favorite jams and take pictures of yourself in the outfits you like. Why do this? Some outfits you think look amazing but aren’t as flattering as you think they are.
